The State of Social Procurement in Australia & New Zealand 2021 report is the first in-depth analysis of the breadth and scope of social procurement in Australia and New Zealand conducted by the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Swinburne, in partnership with IPA Personnel, The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), Social Traders and Ākina Foundation. The research involved surveying procurement professionals and social procurement champions across a a number of industries in both countries.

For us, collaborating with leaders in the social procurement, social impact and the procurement and supply space has meant that together we have been able to gain invaluable insights. The biggest take away messages for our community of members can be summarised as:

  1. Social procurement is as relevant as ever >88% said that COVID-19 has increased, or had no impact, on the level of commitment to social procurement.
  2. Social procurement gives you an edge >78% of participants believed that it positively contributes to an organisations reputation and/or competitive advantage.
  3. Social procurement is here to stay >86% agreed that it's becoming bigger and that governments and customers will increasingly expect it.

Most importantly this seminal report highlights how we can further build Social Procurement momentum to change business practices to make buying from social enterprise the norm.
