What if your next work lunch could help tackle food insecurity, support women into secure employment, and deliver measurable ESG outcomes - all for $12.50?

That’s the idea behind the new social impact kiosk, an initiative by early Social Traders certified social enterprise Meals with Impact, launched in partnership with leading property and infrastructure company Lendlease.

The first kiosk, soon to be located at Melbourne Quarter in Docklands, has been made possible through a groundbreaking partnership with Lendlease. This collaboration brings together corporate leadership and grassroots social innovation to deliver meaningful change at the intersection of employment, food systems, and inclusion.

For business leaders seeking to meet ESG goals - without compromising on convenience or quality - the social impact kiosk is a scalable, practical, and impact-rich solution.

What is a social impact kiosk?

A social impact kiosk is a fully automated, self-service social impact food solution -ideal for modern workplaces, construction sites, hospitals, and university campuses.

Each culturally inspired, halal-friendly meal - from Somali beef stew to Malaysian dhal - is:

  • Co-designed, cooked, and packaged by women from refugee and migrant backgrounds
  • Made through a paid workforce training program
  • Frozen for freshness, easily reheated, and priced affordably at $12.50
  • A scalable ESG-aligned solution that makes inclusion part of your daily operations

“The kiosk isn’t just about food,” says Harris Ryan, co-founder and managing director of Meals with Impact.

“It’s a platform for women who’ve been systematically excluded from the workforce to gain meaningful employment - while feeding communities food they actually want to eat.”

Innovation for inclusion

Lendlease is one of 20 organisations that spent more than $1 million with certified social enterprises in FY24. Now, their collaboration with Meals with Impact sets a new benchmark for place-based, inclusive innovation.

This partnership demonstrates how large organisations can champion social enterprise-led solutions while supporting local economies and meeting sustainability goals.

It also reflects a broader shift across industries - from infrastructure to finance, consulting to energy - as more businesses seek social value through strategic procurement.

For Meals with Impact, the kiosk marks the start of a national rollout - one that will unlock meaningful employment, scalable social impact, and a new era of food service built on equity and empowerment.

Social performance is on the rise

Social performance is no longer a “nice to have” - it’s fast becoming a business imperative. Businesses are increasingly choosing suppliers that deliver both value and impact.

Our FY24 data shows:

  • $257 million spent with certified social enterprises in one year - a record high
  • 62% of business members increased their spend with social enterprises
  • Over 10,000 employment outcomes and 918,000+ hours of training delivered
  • $88.1 million invested in affordable and accessible community services
  • 56,500 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill

And it’s not slowing down. According to the 2025 Executive CSR Report, 76% of business leaders expect their social impact investment to grow in the next 12 months.

“Social procurement is no longer the domain of one sector. This is now a whole-of-economy opportunity.” - Tara Anderson, CEO, Social Traders

Social enterprises are scaling

As one of the earliest certified social enterprises through Social Traders, Meals with Impact is leading a new wave of social enterprise growth.

  • 80% of certified social enterprises increased trading revenue in FY24
  • 69% increased the amount spent on delivering impact
  • The number of certified social enterprises grew by 21% last year alone - reaching over 730

And social enterprise activity is expanding beyond traditional categories like catering. In FY24, certified enterprises delivered:

  • $5.9M in engineering and tech services
  • $5.8M in training and education
  • $2.4M in freight and logistics
  • $2M in architecture and design

The social impact kiosk represents the next evolution of social innovation - where automation, food innovation, and workforce development come together.
