COVID-19 impacts and recovery prospects for the Australian social enterprise sector
The Social Traders COVID-19 June survey provides the only national insight into the impact COVID-19 is having on the Australian social enterprise sector.
The survey was open between 10th and 24th June, 2020. We received 170 responses, covering 192 social enterprises.
Key findings included:
- While 57% experienced significant or drastic revenue declines, social enterprises have remained resilient. 96% are still trading, and 91% expect to still be trading by the end of the year.
- Not only are 90% predicting a return to pre-COVID levels within 18 months, 75% said that they had significant potential to recover and grow.
- To achieve growth, two key things were needed – mandated Government procurement targets, and grants to grow or pivot.
