Since 2017 Social Traders facilitated approx. $30 million in procurement deals between ST certified social enterprises and business and government members, supporting an estimated 400 jobs for disadvantaged Australians.

What is social procurement?

Access to a network of social enterprises is important. It helps businesses like ours identify future suppliers who put purpose alongside profit. While we are targeting $100 million in purposeful procurement by 2030, for us it is beyond targets, it’s about our business being a force for good.

Creating social impact

Simon Fenech has worked his way up to Operations Manager at Fruit2Work upon release from prison, after a nine year drug habit.

Fruit2Work is an ST certified social enterprise where those stigmatised and disengaged from society are given a second chance. They prepare, pack and deliver a range of products, including corporate fruit boxes, providing meaningful skill development and employment for ex-offenders. For every individual that Fruit2Work prevents reoffending, the social cost of incarceration is reduced by $500,000 per year. 4.
