Social Traders & NSW Government Establish Landmark Agreement

Social Traders is excited to have recently established our first  formal partnership with the NSW Government. This agreement means that NSW Government Departments and Agencies can access the Social Traders database of certified social enterprises – coinciding with changes made to the  NSW Government Procurement Policy Framework. 

The ACT Government have also recently released their new Charter of Procurement Values, with a focus on diversity, equality and inclusion in supply chains.  These milestones for social procurement are thanks to the continued advocacy, valuable service offerings and growing numbers of social enterprises active in both NSW and the ACT.

Social Traders Managing Director David Brookes said he was excited to welcome the NSW Government to the growing community of business and government buying from social enterprises.

“Social enterprises are businesses like any other, but they exist to support the most vulnerable in our communities…These enterprises have a particularly unique role to play in the COVID-19 economic recovery by creating jobs for the most vulnerable who have fallen out of the job market. The potential to support disadvantaged people in NSW by allocating some of the NSW Government’s procurement spend to social enterprise is enormous.”
