Nancy Neamtan is the leading voice for social enterprise and the social economy in Quebec, and one of the world’s leading figures in local community economic development. Her work in Quebec has resulted in government embracing socially driven businesses into policy, for the critical role they play in meeting the social and economic goals of society.
Nancy is Executive Director of the Chantier de l’économie sociale, a Canadian non-profit organisation that brings together networks of social enterprises (cooperatives and non-profits), local development organisations and social movements.
Hear her insights into the evolution of Local Community Economic Development over the past 30 years, and how social enterprise and other socially driven business structures have found favour with Canadian governments. She will also outline the key learnings from Quebec’s journey and how they might inform development of social enterprise in Australia.
Nancy will also be presenting at the SE Masters Conference in Melbourne on 12 June.
