Open Canvas empowers artists who have experienced adversity. Some have lived on the street; some have experienced substance abuse; some are on low incomes within supported and crisis accommodation; and others live with mental health issues and disability.
Artists receive the majority profits from purchases. By helping artists sell prints and other merchandise, artists have the opportunity for repeat income once their original art is sold. Open Canvas also helps artists in other ways. For some, not having basic art supplies limits their ability to do art. Other artists benefit from mentoring and guidance from professional artists to take their skills to the next level.
We help by facilitating mentoring opportunities and providing art and craft supplies. We also seek out other opportunities for artists, including exhibiting opportunities, selling art and craft through retailers, and licensing and commissioning of artwork.Back to Alumni
