About Social Enterprise

Following a fixed 'type’ of social enterprise is less important than the ability of individual entrepreneurs and organisations to create the business models that best help them to achieve their goals. Most social enterprises do not neatly fit into a set structure, often mixing and matching characteristics from many typologies in order to meet the needs they have been developed to address. The social enterprise typology on our website will give you an in-depth look at various approaches, ideals and social purposes of social enterprise - including 'Hybrid' models: http://www.socialtraders.com.au/social-enterprise-typology

Social Enterprise Profile

In 2007 The Brotherhood of St Laurence (Australia) produced a DVD containing five comprehensive social enterprise case studies. Each case study details the choices made on their path to sustainability, legal structures involved, and the social issue and business opportunity they seek to address. Find this fantastic resource here: http://www.socialtraders.com.au/social-enterprise-tools#Business_Planning
