Social enterprise seems to be the buzz word of the moment but there are many examples of organisations which have been working at the intersection of commercial revenue and social impact for a long time without calling themselves social enterprises. So why bother using this buzz word at all? Why not just get on with doing good stuff in a business-like manner?

Social Enterprise Exchange - Apr 15th, 2012

On 27th March I had the privilege to attend and speak at The Social Enterprise Exchange in Glasgow, Scotland. This was billed as the largest social enterprise event anywhere in the world. A bold statement by the organisers but with over 1,250 delegates from nearly 30 countries, around 150 exhibitors and a keynote speech by the First Minister of Scotland this was definitely a social enterprise event at scale.

Social Benefit Bonds - Apr 15th, 2012

SVA is pleased to announce that it is part of UnitingCare Burnside’s (UCB) winning consortium under the NSW Government’s Social Benefit Bond (“SBB”) pilot program. SVA will work alongside UCB to structure and fund the bond, which will be developed over the coming six months in consultation with the Government working committee.
