Social Enterprise/Entrepreneurship Research Higher Degree Students Convene for One-Day Forum in Brisbane
On Monday 28 November, 2011 The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at QUT supported a one-day forum for Australian research higher degree students working in the fields of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship. Given that social enterprise researchers often operate in diverse departments from a range of disciplines and are spread across Australia, the forum sought to initiate a community of scholarship in the field of social enterprise/entrepreneurship.
The one-day forum consisted of student presentations, networking, and a workshop on publishing opportunities facilitated by Associate Professor Jo Barraket. A total of eleven students from Universities across Australia participated in the event which concluded with a session discussing opportunities for future collaboration and keeping in touch with one another.
The participants are looking forward to building research capacity in the field and supporting one another as early career researchers. The current focus includes setting up an online space for collaboration and sharing of information and events. If you are a research higher degree student in the field of social enterprise/social entrepreneurship and are interested in becoming part of this group, please email Sharine Ling at s3.ling@qut.edu.au
