$150,000 in grants available through Optus Community Grants program

Optus is calling on local community and not-for-profit organisations across Australia to apply for its 2011 grants program

The 'yes' Optus Community Grants program funding will be awarded to projects aimed at supporting disengaged youth and/or activities that build social inclusion.

Social Enterprises with NFP and DGR status may be eligble to apply.

Optus will only award grants to applications that are aligned with the following categories for funding:

  •   providing access to communications.

Providing access to communication for individuals or groups that are currently excluded is one way that Optus can make a significant contribution to society and help overcome the barriers of distance and disadvantage.
By connecting disengaged communities.

Supporting local community organisations and groups' initiatives that help build and strengthen their capacity to deliver services that have a positive social impact for Australians in need.

  • Supporting Disengaged Youth.

Education, life skills and knowledge. Helping disadvantaged young people improve their eduction, life skills and knowledge.

Last year Optus awarded 31 grants. Since launching the Community Grants program in 2008, Optus has awarded $400,000 worth of funding to 85 organisations.
